My
project is funded by the Department of Energy and is a collaborative
venture to characterize and understand the metathesis catalyst
Methyltrioxorhenium supported on calcined silica-alumina with the goal
of designing a better catalyst. I am working to gain an understanding
of the kinetic properties of the metathesis of propylene on the
catalyst system in the hope of redesigning the catalyst to be active in
the presence of functionalized olefins such as seed oils.
