The Department is committed to high quality undergraduate education. The program is fully accredited and characterized by:

  • A balance of fundamental principles of science and engineering with the practical skills necessary to apply them;
  • Technical electives that  provide considerable flexibility and allow students to pursue special interests
    (e.g., biotechnology, materials, or technology management);
  • Opportunities for undergraduate research and education abroad.

Our curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of a rapidly changing technological society. The quality of the undergraduate teaching is superb. Chemical engineering courses are taught by accessible faculty, rather than teaching assistants.  Our faculty are recognized leaders in their research fields, as would be expected of the 9th ranked chemical engineering department. (Reference: U.S. News and World Report).  We take great pride in the outstanding contributions of our alumni in industry, government and academia. For example, here are three distinguished alums from different eras:

Industry Government Academia
