UCSB ChE's first faculty member (Bob Rinker) was hired in 1965 and our first undergraduate class graduated in 1968. UCSB's engineering compromise: The 40th graduating class (2007) and all 39 prior classes were celebrated in June 2007.

The 40th Anniversary Celebration Committee co-chaired by Darryl McCall (1978) and John Poulos (1983), planned events for the celebration on June 8-9, 2007. Attendees enjoyed a receiption and dinner, wine country tours, and class get-together - in addition to a public ceremony to honor the founding faculty and to celebrate the Department's achievements during the past 40 years.

We re-named the newly-rehabilitated Chemical Engineering Laboratory for Professor Robert Rinker, and launched a campaign to fund an endowment that can maintain the lab at the cutting edge, in perpetuity.

The Committee continues to work with the Department to obtain contact information for as many alumni as possible. To provide us with your own information or to help us locate other classmates, contact ChEadmin@engineering.ucsb.edu

We hope to hear from you and see you again at the All Gaucho Reunion.

If you are planning to come, please book early.
