40th Anniversary Celebration 2007
First faculty member (Bob Rinker) hired in 1965; first undergraduate class graduated in 1968. UCSB engineering compromise: Celebrate the 40th graduating class (2007) and all 39 prior classes this coming June.
The 40th Anniversary Celebration Committee, co-chaired by Darryl McCall (1978) and John Poulos (1983), is in charge of planning events for the celebration on June 8-9, 2007.

The committee is working with the Department to obtain contact information for as many alumni as possible. To provide us with your own information, or to help us locate other classmates, contact ChEadmin@engineering.ucsb.edu.
The tentative plans include honoring the founding faculty, re-naming the newly-rehabilitated Chemical Engineering Laboratory for Professor Robert Rinker, and announcing accomplishment of the goal to fund an endowment that can maintain the lab at the cutting edge, in perpetuity. Several events are under consideration — a reception, a dinner, wine country tours, class get-togethers — in addition to a public ceremony to honor the founding faculty and to celebrate the Department’s achievements during the past 40 years.
Contact John Poulos with suggestions for the local program. View the present version of the June event program.
We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you again at the All Gaucho Reunion.
Important note: motel rooms in Santa Barbara are at a premium beginning already in May. If you are planning to come, please book early. View a list of contact information for SB-area hotels.
