The future looks bright for both the Department and the campus. There are two events that have been of special interest to our alumni:

 

• The Celebration of 40 years of Chemical Engineering at UCSB
  (June 2007)
  
  
• The Opening of the Mosher Alumni House
  (April 2007)

 

Now in Year 2013, we celebrate 46 years. Department planning activities are updated each year and reviewed at the annual meeting of the Department’s very distinguished External Advisory Board. Key planning issues include:

 

• Additional office and laboratory space;
• Faculty renewal in view of expected retirements in the next few years;
• Financial support for students, especially graduate students

 

A Campus Long-Range Development Plan for the next 15 years is in preparation. It includes provision for a modest enrollment increase, up to a total of 24,000 students. This plan also includes significant physical changes to the campus and Isla Vista.
