November 27, 2006 -- The Santa Barbara Medal was awarded to Duncan and Suzanne Mellichamp on November 27, 2006, at the University House. This medal, presented by Chancellor Yang, has now been awarded 22 times since 1982 for special distinction in humanities, arts, sciences, and public service. Professor Duncan Mellichamp and Suzanne are "champions of education, philanthropists with vision and heart whose love and generosity toward UCSB is legendary." These are the words that are inscribed on this honorable medal.
