Lab to Scale — Turning a Lab Concept into a Real Product

Jagdeep Singh, Ph.D.

Speaker Bio

Jagdeep Singh is a chemical engineer specializing in polymer science, process engineering, and surface modification in the membrane and filtration industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

He spent a decade at Parker Hannifin, where he developed and launched multiple membrane and membrane-based filtration product lines across bioprocess, food, and electronics applications, taking new technologies from laboratory proof of concept into full-scale production.

He later served as Director at Entegris Life Sciences, leading R&D and cross-functional teams across multiple global sites. There, he helped build the company’s single-use bioprocess filtration portfolio essentially from the ground up—developing the products, application capability, and manufacturing capability required to support them.

Beyond the technical aspects of product development, Jagdeep’s work has focused on leading engineering teams through the complete product lifecycle—from early development through commercialization. His approach emphasizes the integration of technical innovation with disciplined execution across scope, schedule, budget, quality, and manufacturability.

Talk Abstract

Using membranes and filtration technologies as a practical case study, this presentation examines the journey from a successful laboratory concept to a robust, manufacturable product and production process.

Drawing on his industry experience, Jagdeep will share key insights and lessons learned throughout his career—including the importance of product requirements, engineering for scale, understanding process variability, and the iterative nature of product development. The presentation will also highlight the critical roles of project management and cross-functional collaboration in successfully bringing new technologies from the laboratory into manufacturing.
