	Graduate Student Symposium on October 2, 2009 We are pleased to announce that the Second Annual Graduate Student Symposium was held on Friday, October 2, 2009. Mike Gordon receives Northrop Grumman 2009 Excellence in Teaching Award He is the first recipient of this annual industrial award for teaching excellence. Scott Shell receives an NSF CAREER award This prestigious five year grant is for research on An Integrated Multiscale Platform for Fundamental Studies of Peptide Self-Assembly. Todd Squires and Aditya Khair receive the Francois Frenkiel Award of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics. For the best paper published by young authors in the Physics of Fluids. Frank Doyle is named a Fellow of the International Federation of Automatic Control. He is one of nine new Fellows selected from a large international group of candidates.
